Grayson Elementary Headphones Requirement |
||
All Grayson Elementary students should provide their own headphones for use on student computers in the classrooms and labs. These headphones should be brought to school in a large plastic Ziplock-type bag with your child's first and last name, and homeroom teacher's name, written on the bag in permanent marker. The headphones will be stored in each child's classroom and take to the labs as needed. Thank you. |

Kindergarten Gymnastics Unit, Through Oct. 7 | Parent Volunteers Welcome |

Our "Gymnastics Unit" involves our students with all kinds of climbing and using our balance skills. Our gymnastics unit is being held through October 7. Campaigning for Student Council will continue through Sept. 30. Student Council dues this year are $12. There will be buttons for the caps instead of t-shirts this year. In 4th Grade and 5th Grade, we will allow two representatives per class. Meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month at 8:05 am in the Rock Building. |

| The Dental Mobile is coming to Grayson Elementary | ||
"Help a Child Smile" is a dental program that offers dental care for those students who do not normally receive routine and ongoing dental services. This dental care is provided through a fully equipped mobile dentist offices that includes cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatment, sealants, exams and cavity treatment. Your child will be coming home with an enrollment form. If your child is not currently under the care of a dentist, and you wish to participate in the programs, please fill out the form and return it to school. Help a Child Smile" accepts most insurance, including Medicaid, PeachCare, Amerigroup, PeachState, and WellCare. Any questions, please contact Mitzi Bishop in the Clinic at 770-682-4158. |

| GCPS is collecting donations to support the 2011 GREAT DAYS OF SERVICE, sponsored by the Gwinnett Coalition for Health and Human Services. The donation will benefit Gwinnett shelters, group homes, and food pantries. Together, we can make a huge impact on the lives of others in our community! During this one week drive, students and staff members can bring these needed items to the front lobby of Grayson Elementary: large sizes of disposable diapers, toiletries, and canned goods and non-perishable food items. We beleive in the power of people helping people! | ||

1. Ingles customers can have a portion of EVERY single purchase donated to Grayson Elementary! Simply visit www.ingles-markets.com and click on "Tools for Schools" at the top of the page. "Going Green" Update
Nearly 840 Reams of Paper Saved since January 2010 and Counting... |
Estimated paper saved this week: 140,796 sheets. Total sheets of paper saved since January 2010: 471,408! |
| Switching to recycled paper is definitely a big win for the environment. The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) reports that 40 cases of 30% recycled copy paper (400 reams) will save more than seven trees, 2,100 gallons of water, 1,230 kilowatt-hours of electricity and 18 pounds of air pollution. |
