Grayson Elementary School: **Headphones for 2010-11 School Year**

ALL  STUDENTS should acquire a simple computer headphone for use at school in 2010-11 --  a basic stereo headphone for computer use.  Students should bring their headphone to school in a gallon-sized, zip-lock type bag, labeled in permanent marker with their name, grade level, and homeroom teacher's name.  Thank you.

Chorus Auditions**4th and 5th Graders Only**

Auditions for 4th and 5th grade students interested in the Premier Choir and Honor Choir will be held the week of August 16-20 and 23-27 during your child's scheduled Music class. More information about rehearsals and performances to come soon.

Grayson's  Fall Festival on October 23 **Volunteers and Vendors Welcome**

Grayson's  Fall Festival on October 23 will bring the community together to enjoy the Autumn season! Special events include an arts and crafts show and sale, the 2nd annual CREATE 5K road race, a pancake breakfast, hot dogs and hamburgers, music, and many more family activities across our historic campus. Chess Club **Sign up now for session beginning August 26**

Championship Chess presents a systematic and fun way to build chess skills while students play the game. Studies show that chess improves math, reading and problem-solving and our methods connect these academic benefits to our classes. Each class includes instruction by a qualified coach, as well as time for play and guided analysis. Chess Club will meet after school on Thursdays 3:30 to 4:30. The fall session is from  August 26 - October 28. The cost for this session is $110. The winter session starts November 4. To encourage participation in early school year tournaments, $10 per player will be paid for those pre-registering for the Fall Kick Off Tournament.

 "Going Green" Update:  This week's Friday efolder saves an estimated  17 reams of paper, or  8,500 sheets.  Total paper saved since Jan. 8, 2010:  129,350 sheets.
